MASTER / BACHELOR THESIS OR PRACTICAL SEMESTER (BACHELOR) - OPPORTUNITY IN TELEMATICS, IoT OR WEB APPLICATION IN THE FIELD OF AUTONOMOUS DRIVING (M/F/D)

As part of your role, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting our R&D team focused on Automated Driving. Responsibilities encompass autonomous driving, connected vehicles, and e-mobility within the framework of intelligent logistics. You'll have the freedom to take responsibility for your tasks, ensuring successful completion. Additionally, you'll actively engage with our partners, suppliers and customers, expanding the scope of your responsibilities. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development, implementation and testing of innovative methods and algorithms in autonomous driving, particularly within the logistics domain, serving diverse objectives.

Your tasks

  • Your primary focus will revolve around one of the following key areas, such as:
  • Advancement of Telematics Software for Logistics Vehicles:
    • Expertise in acquiring data from vehicle interfaces, specifically CAN
    • Proficiency in data processing, aggregation and process evaluation on embedded IoT gateways
    • Facilitating seamless data transfer to the cloud
  • Web-based diagnostic tools for automated logistics vehicles:
    • Development of a web app to display all vehicle components
    • Query statuses, error messages and measurement / sensor data from the vehicle (Eth, CAN)
    • Create UI design and mock-up
    • Develop and implement both backend and frontend components
  • You will take over all development steps of your task, from software design to testing and validation in the logistics vehicle under real conditions
  • You will also be actively in contact with other departments (production, service, etc.)

What you bring

  • Currently pursuing a degree in mechatronics, automotive engineering, electrical engineering, or an equivalent qualification
  • Practical experience with programming languages such as C, C++ or Python
  • Familiarity in using Linux operating system
  • Fundamental experience in web development, encompassing essential web technologies like HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Backend development expertise, preferably with Python or C++
  • Basic understanding of vehicle architecture with knowledge of CAN considered advantegeous
  • Familiarity with GIT and Docker is desirable

General conditions

  • Start: each summer semester or winter semester or by arrangement
  • Duration: approx. 6 months or by arrangement, long-term cooperation preferred
  • Location: Ulm
  • Full-Time (35 hours)
  • Flexible working hours and flexitime
  • Appropriate remuneration
